*FANFIC* Kim Possible: Goodbye To Cream*FANFIC*
Disclaimer: I do not own Kim Possible or Ron Stoppable, but I do own all the other characters that appear in this fic. As well as the story. This story is part of my fanon continuity "Kim Possible's Dogma Universe". Read "Ashley's Make Up" from July 2004 for Background info. Happy Reading. Mid 2012, around July. Ashley Possible Benlove was twenty five years old. Freshly graduated from Julliard School of Acting, she headed home to Middleton to see her parents, Brian and Faith Possible Benlove. She brought along her rightly named off-white cream colored Shih Tzu named Cream. Ashley walked into her home with a suitcase in one hand and a small kennel in the other. She set the suitcase and kennel down before her mother ran over to her and hugged her. "How are you, honey?" Faith asked. "I'm doing well," Ashley said. She kneeled down, pulled out the shih tzu from it's kennel, and held him in her arms. "Cream's not feeling well. I think he's sick." She patted the shih tzu gently. "Where's Daddy?" Ashley asked. "The home office," Faith said. "Okay," Ashley said. She watched as her mom grabbed her suitcase and the kennel and went up the stairs. Ashley walked passed the living room into a hallway and opened the second door on the left. "Daddy?" The fifty ish lawyer and father turned around, got up, and hugged her gently. "Peaches, you look well," Brian said. "What are you doing here?" "Visiting," Ashley said. "I wanna see my fam. Parents, cousins, godchildren, that sort of thing. You know how much I enjoy my family." "But, you be nice to Kimmy. She's in a delicate state," Brian said. "Daddy, she's pregnant. It's not delicate." Several days later. Nighttime. "Cream's still not feeling better?" Faith asked as she came into her daughter's bedroom. The room hardly changed for the most part since her daughter had been a teenager. But, there was something about the aura of the bedroom at that moment that would have even made the greatest of the Jedi, Yoda, flinch in pain. Ashley was sitting by Cream's bed, holding his paw. Faith pulled out her stethoscope and kneeled by her daughter. Cream was breathing, but it was shallow breaths. She set her stethoscope by his litty furry chest and listened. There was a heartbeat there, but it was faint. She listened to his heart; her daughter held his paw; they both looked at the delicate face of the decade plus old shih Tzu. Faith let out a soft gasp as she heard the heartbeats no longer and saw the black eyes close for the final time. Faith removed the stethoscope from her ears and closed her eyes for a moment. She sniffed and wiped away the tears that fell. She watched her daughter drop the paw she was holding and then begin sobbing. Faith opened her arms wide and enveloped her daughter into them as her daughter threw herself into them sobbing. Faith knew there was nothing that she could say to her daughter. Cream the Shih Tzu had been in her life for over a decade. He had been her best friend. He was there in her awkward teenage years, he was there when she was into theatre, he was there when they moved to Middleton from Georgia, he was there when Ian and her broke up, he was there when she graduated high school, he was there when she graduated college. Cream was loyal, loving, caring, and now he was gone from Ashley's life. The following day, a black clothed Ashley came down from her bedroom to see that her parents were talking to a redhaired woman and a blond man her age. The blond man was holding a sleeping little blonde girl. The redhead got up carefully as Ashley walked over to them. Before Ashley could say anything, the redhead hugged her close. Well, as close as Kim Possible-Stoppable could with being so very pregnant. Ashley cried what seemed to be like the one hundredth time in the last fifteen hours. "He was my best friend!" Ashley sobbed out. Ashley slowly sat down with Kim holding her. Kim gently patted her head. The way Kim held her was the way Faith did. Like a mother comforting her child. "A.P.B.?" Ron said softly. "You think about giving him a small funeral? Just us there?" Ashley stopped crying for a moment and looked at him. Then at her mother. "Mom, in my room is a large shoebox with the knee length boots that I wore twice. I want Cream to have that box; it's larger than him. Wrap him in the blanket from his bed," Ashley said. "I can't bear to do it myself." Faith nodded and went to it. Ashley wiped her tears from her eyes and looked at her cousin. "Kim, you're like the ultimate mama. You're gonna make a great mom to that little girl and the one in your womb," Ashley said. "Thank you," Kim said softly. ... That late afternoon in the shade of an oak tree in the Possible Benlove backyard, the six of them stood by a small hole about two feet deep. Brian cleared his throat, "Today, we bury a great dog, who lived over a decade and will be remembered by all. Here, forever, shall lie Cream the cream colored Shih Tzu. Peach, do you want to say something?" Ashley looked from her parents to Kim, who was wiping tears as they fell to Ron, who was choking back tears as Rufus on his shoulders cried and the little girl holding his hand, Kim and Ron's daughter, Christy, who was two years old, watched on confused. She cleared her throat. "Cream, we had ten plus years of friendship together. Time I will always remember. Thank you. You were always with me, you werre the brother I never had, you were the partner in crime I need, you'll always be in my heart no matter what. As trite as this sounds, but... Cream, thank you for being a friend." The End. |
