Dawkins, my final grades, and The Lion King
12:30 p.m. on May 23, 2008

Good afternoon! How are you all doing? I'm all right.

So, right now as I type this I am watching The Lion King with commentary. I just finished watching it without it and I wept like four or five different times. Circle of Life, Simba finding Mufasa (that's so heartbreaking), Can You Feel the Love Tonight, and the roar at the end. So beautiful. And apparently, there was commentary on the DVD. I just was in the set up and I clicked on the audio options and I saw it, and was like, WHOA. So, I'm listening to it now. What a great movie. I'm still affected by this movie the same way, everytime, even after almost 14 years.

I got my grades all up finally. So, here they are:
World Lit: A
French: A
Western Civ: B
Lifespan: B
College Algebra: C

Which, amounts to 3.310 GPA. Whoohoo! I gotta get that higher up. I want it closer to 4.0.

So, I finished The God Delusion last night about 10:30 pm. My final opinion? The guy isn't that bad. I have no issues with him. Now, as for my opinions on religion and God: unchanged. I did see where he was coming from. I also agreed with him about indoctrinating children. I was 8 years old when I was confirmed. I mean, seriously? Did I know what I was getting into? Does the 8 day old baby getting circumcized know what he's getting himself into? (Judaism) No. I mean, yes the 13 year old boy, and the 15 year old girl (Judaism and Mexican Catholicism, respectively) know what they are getting into. But under 12, that's not fair.

Me after Confirmation 1995
Here I am at age 8 when I was confirmed? Do I know anything about what I was into. All I cared about to tell the truth was that I got to dress up in that pretty dress and get an extra name tacked on to my name. Anne. Anyways. Now, I don't completely agree with Dawkins, but I respect it and I saw it to be very touching on somewhat.

Which is similar to what I wrote at the end of my last Western Civ paper. I wrote about Mussolini's Doctrine of Fascism. I have that word document opened so I could show that conclusion I come up with. I got a B+ on this paper.

In finality, Mussolini’s beliefs are valid when considering the historical background, such as what Italy was going through at the time, and what this time period was like. Of course, if I look at it from my own standpoint, his beliefs are total rubbish and very offensive. But, the way he words it near the end about Fascism is slightly touching and I can see how he can have such love and passion for his beliefs, irregardless of the fact I completely disagree with him, “If every age has its own doctrine, it is apparent from a thousand signs that the doctrine of the present age is Fascism. That it is a doctrine of life is shown by the fact that is has resuscitated a faith. That this faith has conquered minds is proved by the fact that Fascism has had its dead and its martyrs,” (page 169).

And, that kinda viewpoint, where I can appreciate what somebody is saying is, and still completely disagree with them, is what I strive to be like everyday. :)

I'd go check out the accomplish page, because I checked off "Learn the French Language." But, I'm still learning, but it works. I'd like to be able to get something like a French-English dictionary or something to help me.

So, it's Memorial Day right now. And apparently a lot of school in the area... have school that day. WHAT? But, alas, I'm cool and I have nothing to do, except maybe see a movie.

Also, I decided not to continue the FCILF list. LOL. I just didn't feel like it and it was mostly less important characters.
