100 Facts About Myself
1. I absolutely love to learn, whether it be in a classroom or by some other means; I love to be enlightened. It is a lot of fun. I believe that learning and knowledge is truly power. Ignorance is not bliss. 2. My favorite Bible passage is: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."-- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, The New International Version. 3. I believe firmly that love is love, end of story. It does not matter who falls in love with whom. You cannot conquer love, ever. And yes, I am a romantic! 4. I consider myself to be very sensitive. I do take things personally. I cry if something upsets me (not all the time), or even if a movie or television show makes me cry. I have no problems with it. I love a good cry, because it is therapeutic. I don’t think crying is wrong and I don’t think it makes me weak. 5. My favorite quote from a William Shakespeare play is: "Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em." -- Malvolio, Twelfth Night, 2.5.139. 6. I am named after Ashley Abbott from the Young and the Restless. I did not find this out until I was twenty years old. This is according to my aunt. My mother has denied this, though. 7. I was born and raised a Roman Catholic. I do not consider myself this as an adult. I do believe in some form of a God. My beliefs as an adult are far more spiritual than religious. I appreciate a wide range of beliefs in various religions. I will say this though, when I look up at the night sky at night, I am overcome by emotion. 8. I believe that my favorite television shows, movies, and books say a lot about me. 9. Taking a shower usually can make me feel better. 10. One of the first movies I ever saw in theatres (or rather, can recall seeing) was Jurassic Park. I hid behind a movie theatre chair. It is now number 4 on my top favorite movies of all time. 11. Friendship means a great deal to me. I care a great deal about the friendships I do have. If you look at my favorite shows and movies (the television shows mainly), you will notice that most of them have a great friendship between two or more of the characters. 12. In terms of my political beliefs, I am very liberal. If I have conservative beliefs, they are mostly fiscal. I voted for Obama in 2008. 13. I have a great enthusiasm for quotations. I like collecting them, reading them, using them all the time. 14. I am an Anglophile. I have a great attraction to all things England and British related. I typically write my dates in the scientific/British form and use British spelling for some words. 15. As of the current date, I would like to name my children the following: Kyle Anakin, William George, Kimberly Hermione, and Elizabeth Kiara. Most of the names I’ve chosen are for fictional characters who I like and I like their names. 16. I consider myself Pro-Choice, even though I’m slightly on the fence about abortion. I believe a woman’s body is her’s and she can do what she chooses. Of course, I also do not like the act of killing another living thing. 17. I wear glasses for myopia. I cannot see distances that well. But I’ve taken to wearing them more often as I’ve aged. 18. In late 2008/early 2009, I was diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. It can be a struggle, but I have learnt to deal with the disorder. 19. I also have trichotillomania, which means I compulsively pull my hair out. I do it a lot in times of great stress. 20. My favourite British writers excluding William Shakespeare are J.K. Rowling and Jane Austen. 21. My favourite novel by J.K. Rowling is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. When I finished reading it, I wept hard. It was the first time I ever remember doing that with a book. 22. My favourite Jane Austen is Persuasion. I read it for my Women’s Literature course, and fell in love. The letter to Anne from Captain Wentworth moved me deeply. I read the rest of her novels in about a 2 week span (not immediately after). 23. The favourite directors are: Kevin Smith, George Lucus, James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Steve Loter, Trey Parker, Roland Emmerich, and Lee Unkrich. 24. As a teenager in September 2002, I adopted the manifesto of "If someone cannot accept you for who and what you are, then they should just fuck off, simple as that." It’s not that big a deal as I’ve grown up, I still view it important. 25. One of my most prized possessions is my autographed script of the Kim Possible episode, A Very Possible Christmas. 26. Embarrassing Tidbit: I was born by C-Section because I would not come out. 27. I have cried watching several series finales of shows. I have cried at the finales of Kim Possible (both versions), The Golden Girls, Boy Meets World, Even Stevens, Death Note, Guiding Light and Scrubs. There may be more. 28. I have seen every episode of the following completed shows: Doogie Howser, M.D., The Golden Girls, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (and every series through Power Rangers In Space), Commander-In-Chief, Space Cases, Kim Possible. Strangers With Candy. The list goes on. 29. I believe that aliens could possibly exist elsewhere in the universe. The thought sometimes scares me. 30. I think fighting for what you believe in is very admirable. 31. I am a dork, a nerd, and a geek. 32. I am relatively happy with who I am. 33. I especially have great enthusiasm for my favourite shows and love to talk about them. 34. I believe that The Lion King, Kim Possible, South Park, Dogma, Harry Potter, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have made a huge impact on my life in some form or the other. 35. I love to both laugh and cry. They both make me feel good. I sometimes do them at the same time. 36. When I actually thought about it, it made perfect sense that I have OCD. 37. I find the treasure trail on a man to be extremely hot. There’s something about that patch of hair that makes me get all bothered like that. 38. As a kid, after seeing the Bachae episode, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun of Xena: Warrior Princess, I was obsessed with vampires. Even now, I will admit that I find vampires to be erotic, enigmatic, and sexy. But I don’t care for Twilight. 39. I am an only child. But, there will be a couple of people I consider spiritual siblings (in the sense that I am so close to them, I consider them friend and sibling). 40. My favourite food is rice. It’s actually why I like sushi. 41. I have never met my biological father and I never plan too. That man may have given me life, but he is not my father. 42. I consider myself a feminist. I do not hate men. Sometimes I dislike the things they do. But I do not hate them. 43. I actually love men a lot. 44. In terms of my sexuality, I would say I’m bicurious. I have yet to have experience intercourse so it’s all conjecture. 45. I have very good memory. I remember things very easily. I remember stuff all the way back to my 3rd year of life. It certainly helps with knowing trivia about my favourite show. Seriously, ask me about South Park. 46. I often say I’m shy, but I actually love hearing myself talk. I like to talk a lot. It’s probably why blog entries are so long. 47. I love to receive physical mail. I love going to mail and looking in the box and finding something for me. 48. I have a ton of fictional crushes. Here are couple: Captain Wentworth from Persuasion, Special Agent Seeley Booth from Bones, Kyle Broflovski from South Park, Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean, Dr. Lance Sweets from Bones, Stephen Colbert from The Colbert Report, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie the Cowgirl from the Toy Story films. There probably are more. 49. Yes, I do crush on the actual man, Stephen Colbert. 50. My favourite composer for films is John Williams. I think he’s brilliant. Also, Hans Zimmer and Harry Gregson-Williams. 51. In high school, I was into theatre a great deal. I even played non-essential characters in a few plays. "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. It was interesting. 52. APSCA commercials can make me cry. 53. I agree with the remark said by Kyle Broflovski in the South Park episode Cartoon Wars Part 2: "Either it's all okay or none of it is." You should be able to talk freely about everything. This is probably why I love South Park so much. 54. That and discussing important real-life events. And because it makes me laugh. And for a ton of other reasons. 55. I call the bad part of my OCD, OCD-Cartman. That part of OCD is manipulative and mean and makes me feel bad like that character does to the characters on South Park. The good part of my OCD is called OCD-Kyle, wherein, I obsessively do my school work and things like that. 56. If I could have any name in the world, it’d be Elizabeth. I like the name. It sounds regal. 57. I am right-handed. But I wear my watch on my right arm. 58. I often will have extremely polarizing viewpoints on a certain thing. I feel very strongly on one of those A versus B things. 59. I still love the Backstreet Boys. 60. I have overcome depression. 61. I like to ship fictional characters and real people. Straight, gay, lesbian pairings. It doesn’t matter. My OTPs include female-male, male-male, and female-female. 62. Yes, I’m absolutely for gay marriage. 63. I am a great dog lover. Dog movies often make me cry. 64. My favourite dog breed is the dachshund. 65. Psychology is my first love. 66. Media studies are my second love. I believe media is so important to our everyday lives and it would be naïve to think otherwise. 67. I don’t care for the term cartoons to describe animation. I think it’s derogatory. That doesn’t mean I don’t use it sometimes. 68. I started this diary/blog on Diaryland on 25 January 2002 at the age of 14. 69. I was born 26 October 1987, and my astrological sign is a Scorpio. 70. I do not “believe” in astrology, but I do find it fascinating. I like especially seeing when it’s correct about me. 71. I like even numbers and the number five. 72. I believe in reproductive responsibility. I am against large families and for using contraception. 73. I hate Apple vs. PC commercials. I find them offensive and mean. 74. I don’t have a catchphrase. I will, however, say a certain word a lot for a short period of time and then kind of move on. 75. I consider it a personal affront if you say something negative about Psychology. 76. I have about a 1.5 inch scar on my right foot from an accident involving the bottom of a rusted iron chair. 10 stitches. 77. When I get angry at technology, I sometimes contemplate going without it. But then I realize that I’m not suited for the Amish life. 78. I sometimes wonder what it’d be like to be a stand up comedian. 79. I have been wearing glasses since February 2001. 80. I used to hate Harry Potter. Then I read the books. Been a fan since February/March 2001. 81. Usually, I discover my favourite shows by accident. This is how it happened with Kim Possible, Bones, Scrubs. 82. If possible, with some exceptions, I will usually watch a television show or a DVD with closed captioning. I am not deaf. I’ve been doing this since I was about 9. 83. My favourite stand up comedians are Jim Gaffigan, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, and Brian Regan. 84. I often feel like I am the only person who doesn’t either HATE or LOVE Dane Cook. 85. Whether because of OCD or perfectionism, I do edit entries (remove things, add things, fix it up, that sort of thing) after I post them. How much depends on the situation. Sometimes OCD causes me to completely freak out about certain things that have been posted on the blog. 86. I link to my Twitter and Facebook pages on my blog, but do not link to this site on either site. 87. My favourite sodas are Dr. Pepper and most Coca-Cola products. 88. I love disaster movies. I am fascinated that kind of thing. Especially if it could actually happen. 89. I knew my best friend Alex for about two years before we actually became best friends. 90. I am a big animal lover. I despise animal cruelty. I do wish that the penalties for animal cruelty were the same as for humans. Somebody who kills a dog should get the same sentence as someone who kills a human. 91. I am not a vegetarian. I do eat meat. I will not eat lamb, veal, other baby animal foods, and animals like dog, cat, horse, dolphin, or whale. Part of this was because of the episode Fun With Veal of South Park and personal choice/beliefs. 92. I didn’t join Facebook until 2009. I fell in love immediately. 93. I love to write fan fiction. And writing in general. 94. My full name is Ashley Marie Winkler. I am not related to Henry Winkler, AKA the Fonz. 95. I have wide interests in music. From The Beatles, the Backstreet Boys, Lady Gaga, Bad Religion, The Offspring, and so on. 96. I cried when Estelle Getty of The Golden Girls died. I also cried a lot when Steve Irwin died. 97. Stories of dogs that were loyal to their dead owners make me cry. Just loyalty of dogs in general really makes me cry. 98. Imaginationland of South Park, A Sitch In Time of Kim Possible, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix of Harry Potter were dealmakers for me as a fan. 99. On 15 May 2010, I graduated college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. 100. I have yet to have a major romantic relationship. |
